Thiruvananthapuram : A joint committee comprising personnel from Netherlands and Kerala would be formed to oversee progress in areas of mutual cooperation. The decision came about in talks held between Netherlands ambassador Martin Wander Bengu and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday.
The Committee would be tasked to ramp up activities relating to decisions taken during Pinarayi’s trip to Netherlands and those while g the King and Queen visited Kerala. Officials present at the meeting held in CM’s chamber late this evening included Chief Secretary Tom Jose , Addl. Chief Secretary Dr Viswas Mehta and Deputy Consular General of Netherland, Heena Lagvin.
Expanding Kerala’s imports via Rotterdam Port, cultural exchange, opening centres to promote superior farming, transport technology, cooperation on expertise in sports, are some of the areas Netherlands and Kerala signed agreements on.
Kerala is also patterning its flood defence after Netherland’s ‘Room For River’ model, Chief Minister said.
