Thiruvananthapuram : With Omicron surge inching alongside New Year celebrations, the government announced night curfew in state starting today up to 3rd of January. Venturing outside but for urgent reasons is banned from 10 at night up to 5 am morning. Those venturing out for essential purposes must carry self-declaration with them.
New Year celebrations shall not be allowed after 10 pm on the 31st night. Bar, Clubs, hotels, restaurant and foodjoints shall operate at half-dining capacity only. The district collectors have been instructed deploy sectoral magistrates in essential numbers to oversee beaches, shopping malls, parks and alike venues that could potentially draw crowd.
With likelihood of surge, measures are in place to ensure Covid protocols are strictly adhered to. Wearing of masks will be ensured. Theatres cant run night shows. And, all kinds of New Year celebrations are prohibited after 10 pm night.
