Kozhikode : 702 people in the district have been identified as having come into contact with the two Nipah infected persons who died . 371 of these are persons who in some way interacted with Maruthonkara native Mohammed who died on the 31st and another 281 who might have been in proximity to the second casualty Harris.
The contact list also has 50 persons who have been around the child now on ventilator in a private hospital.
Seven samples have so far been sent for testing including those that came up positive. Pune Virology Institute has set up mobile labs in the district to overcome delay associated with testing.
47 Wards Marked Into Containment Zones
47 wards in 8 panchayats have been marked as containment zones - Ward 3, 4 and 5 of Vilyapally and 13th ward of Puyumari fell to containment zone apart from 6 wards of Vilayapally earlier.
Other wards declared as containment zone are : Wards 1,2,3,4,4, 5, 12, 13, 14, 15 ward of Ayanchery Panchayat; Wards 1,2,3,4,5,112, 13, 14 of Maruthonkara; wards 1,2. 20 of Tiruvallur; wards 3, 4,5,6,7,8, 9, 10 ; wards 5,6,7,8,9 of Kayakode and wards 2,10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 of Kavilpara.
