Nipah Results Relieving: 11 More Samples Come Back Negative

Thiruvananthapuram : 11 more samples pertaining to people with close contact to patients have tested negative for Nipah virus, said Health Minister Veena George on Saturday. 

21 persons including two infants remain in Isolation ward at Kozhikode, all of whose condition is stable according to doctors.The confirmed cases so far are six; There have been no positive diagnoses since, the minister informed.

Contact tracing is underway for the person last detected with the virus. The process of identifying virus source in the first victim will conclude shortly. Efforts are on to retrace his movements using mobile tower locations. Additional ambulances are deployed for collecting samples from potential patient, the minister said.

Samples from people other than in the district shall be collected by Saturday. Doctors are of the view that administering of monoclonal anti-body to patients would not be necessary at this point, the minister said, adding that the Centre has assured supply of more monoclonal anti-body if required.
