Kozhikode : A Central team of experts have arrived in Kozhikode to take stock of the situation after the district confirmed five Nipah infections among its people. The experts come from varying fields with bearing to healthcare.
The team comprises Mala Chhabra (Senior Consultant Microbiologist ABVIM), Dr. Himanshu Chauhan (Joint Director IDSP, National Center for Disease Control, Delhi), Dr. Meera Duria (Joint Director, National Center for Disease Control, Delhi), Dr. Ajay Azrana (Prof. Neurology National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore), Dr. Hanul Thukral (Epidemiologist, Center for One Health, National Center for Disease Control, Delhi) and Dr. Gajendra Singh (Wildlife Officer Center for One Health, National Center for Disease Control, Delhi).
The team will assess existential conditions and recommend remedial measures that will be forwarded to the State government at 5 pm on daily basis. The team efforts would be coordinated by the Senior Regional Director of Health and Family Welfare Dept, Thiruvananthapuram. The team experts will work closely with officials at the Animal Husbandry department for epidemiological assessments and control measures.
