THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : No action is being considered against Opposition members who blocked the Governor’s entry into the House, as he arrived to deliver the government policy speech, stated Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan on Thursday. The chair shall also examine if there were attempts by Watch-and-Ward personnel to block members of the Opposition, he assured.
The complaint lodged by Opposition shall be looked into. Incidentally, the watch-and-ward staff were instructed to make way for the governor but without use of force, the speaker said.
The governor reads to the Assembly, the government policy statement previously approved by the House. Governors in the past never breached that norm, nor has the present head of State, the Speaker said.
However, the motion moved by Opposition is complaint with the law, for which the Advisory Committee shall be consulted to decide, if time may be allowed to discuss it. Nevertheless, such time shall be considered only after government’s prescheduled business in House are all transacted, the Speaker clarified.
