Kochi : : Ravindran pattayams were cancelled for regularisatin purposes of land title deeds that may have been issued illegally, said CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
The action follows govt decision of 2019, Howeer, there is no need for concern over the cancellation of pattayams. No person shall be evicted from his land, said Kodiyeri.
Each person whose title deed stands cancelled must make fresh application. Each case shall be scruitinised individually and the regularization effected in keeping with the findings, said Kodiyeri.
Context : The pattayams date back to 1999, when deputy Tehsildar MI Ravindran issued pattayams on wide scale sidelining rules. The Revenue department has cancelled them under Rule 893 of 1964 Land Assignment Act and 1977 Kannan Devan Hills Rule 21(1) over erroneous information and wrong documents involved in the issuance.
