Thiruvananthapuram : The government does not intend heavy-handed imposition of identical uniform for boys and girls in schools, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The clarification comes in response to a submission by KK Shailaja teacher in the Assembly on Wednesday. At any school, the concerned authorities and the PTA will decide on the most suited uniform code for their students, said CM.
The controversy over uniform is an example of sorts. It is not policy with this government to impose any kind of dress code. With regard to clothing, kind of food or beliefs , people shall always retain their freedom of choice as per their traditional or communal aspirations. This govt is insistent there should be no kind of infringement on those counts. Each school will decide their type of uniform for the students studying there. There is no special notification in this regard from the government. There is none required, said CM.
