Election Commission Issues Celebration Ban For 5 States On Counting Day

NEW DELHI : The Central Election Commission (EC)  has issued celebration ban for five states on the counting day beginning 2 May.

Featuring on the EC prohibition list are : Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pudhucherry, W. Bengal and Assam.  The ban follows scathing criticism from Madras High Court over election conduct during the second wave. Allowing unfettered rallies during election days has led to the huge surges witnessed today, the court had said.
