Thiruvananthapuram : There’s no need for coastal highway, said Opposition leader VD Satheesan at a press conference Thursday. According to him, with NH 66 works in progress the construction of coastal highway is not necessary. A report from committee chaired by Shibu Baby John will be handed over to government for review purpose, Satheesan told reporters.
Study of neither environmental nor social impact has been carried out with regard to this. The coastal road project also lacks detailed project report, Building of coastal highway is unacceptable. Alternatively, the roads in coastal stretches should be developed and linked to National Highway 66, Satheesan said at the conference where Shibu Baby John too was in attendance.
