Kottayam : A Oomen Chandy loyalist was beaten up in the brawl that broke over leaving out Oomen Chandy's picture on Youth Congress flex board in Kottayam. According to sources, DCC office secretary Libin beat the pro-Chandy party worker, Manu.
Oomen Chandy came to be omitted on the flex relating to protest on buffer zone, organised by the Congress’’s district unit. Members of the “A” Group alleged the omission was deliberate and conspired for by the “I” Group. Arguments heated up on the allegation and escalated into physical fight, when Manu questioned the omission point blank.
Manu was injured in the incident and is being treated at General Hospital in Changanassery. Party seniors are pointing out how this kind of infighting is diminishing the very purpose of the buffer zone protest.
Criticism is also rife that many a protest against the government fuses out owing to lack of unity inside of Congress.
