Kochi : No police guns have gone missing,the stock is intact, the Government informed High Court on Thursday. The fact has been affirmed by Crime Branch in their findings and a case has been registered, it added.
In the discrepancy pertaining to missing bullets, a case has been registered naming nine accused, the govt told the Court, adding that, an internal inspection pertaining missing guns and bullets mentioned in the CAG is underway.
The court responded to the claims saying , all steps taken so far should be submitted in form of an affidavit complete with records attached. It then went on to issue notices to both State and Central governments. The aforesaid affidavit shall be submitted in a week’s time, the court directed.
The High Court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation urging that the case be handed over to central investigation agency, given that no action was initiated up to now though 25 guns and 12061 bullets were missing on record.
