Vaikom : Vaoikom Satyagraha is a battle without parallels, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Vaikom Satyagraha was a model for the country itself. Progressive movements are not conducted in isolation. Vaikom Satyagraha proved thse were not person-centered battles but rather are progressive movements. The Satyagraha was a social advancement that was political, said CM, speaking at the inaugural of Vaikom Satyagraha centenary celebrations.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin jointly inaugurated the State entenary celebrations of Vaikom Satyagraha. Kerala and Tamil Nadu share a common tradition with regard to historic struggles, said CM at the inauguration. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin is trying to keep the Dravidian movement alive in Tamil Nadu. Thee Vaikom Satyagraha offers Tamil Nadu too cause of pride, said CM.
The presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister at centenary celebration of Vaikom Satyagraha bears great significance. The sates of Tamil Nadu and Kerala have led struggles of similar nature. Vaikom Satyagraha was a movement that rang out message for unity. That unity will be carried forward - a unity that will stand witness to change in coutnry itself, said CM.
We shall push out forces that stands in the way of our country’s progress. We must put aside small differences for the cause. Today, efforts are on to convert the country into a religious State. The Constitution is being attempted to be replaced with Manusmriti. We should be able to see this, May the centenary celebrations of Vaikom Satyagraha lend strength to overcome challenges we face today, said CM, adding that, the government will built a memorial that will forever symbolise the proud struggle Vaikom Satyagraha was.
