Not Right To Portray Kerala As State Where Drug Abuse Is Very High: Min MB Rajesh

Thiruvananthapuram : Certain centres are trying to portray Kerala as state where drug is very high, said Minister MB Rajesh in the Assembly on Friday.

The matters referred in the adjournment motion are of serious nature. One does not dispute that. However is incorrect to say that drug abuse in Kerala is on a higher scale. The government is unifying everybody to fight this disaster of drug addiction. While conducting campaign do not propagate that drug abuse is relatively higher in kerala, the minister said replying to an adjournment motion tabled by the Opposition on the subject.

There’s conscious effort from certain quarters to impress that drug problem is exceptionally high in Kerala. There was information on drug peddling iin surroundings of 63 schools. Surveillance and raids have  been upped. 27,088 people have been arrested in 24,563 drug cases registered by  the police, the minister said, adding that, investigations are underway in the Azhiyoor case.

The adjournment motion was presented by Mathew Kuzhalnadan.
