Thiruvananthapuram :Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah seeking stringent action against those who attacked nuns and two postulants at Jhansi, during their train journey in Uttar Pradesh.
The nuns and postulants were attacked by Bajrang Dal workers and the Jhansi police, who forced the group to alight from the train. They were not released despite each producing their ID cards and it took high-level intervention for their release to come by as late as 11 am at night.
"The actions of police and Bajrang Dal tarnish the country’s image and the tradition of religious harmony. The incident amounts to violation of constitutional rights and should be viewed with grave concern and strongly condemned," said CM in the letter.
