New Delhi : Delhi government tightened curbs to mitigate surge in Omicron cases, declaring Yellow Alert for the city and announcing closure for its schools and colleges. In the restrictions announced Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Khejriwal said shops shall open on alternate week days only, Restaurants and metros will operate at half capacity only. Similarly private work places shall have only half its staff at any given time.
Swimming pools, gyms and theatres have been closed. Shopping malls may open on alternate days only. Gatherings for functions including those for wedding have been limited.
On the sunny side, though despite rise in Omicron case numbers, most people are affected with mild symptoms only. No demand for additional oxygen cylinders or ventilators have been reported from any quarter so far, said Kejriwal.
The Delhi government had earlier constituted Graded Response Action Plan(GRAP) that assigns colours to four types of Covid response. Yellow Alert is the first level of newly set system.
