Mumbai ; Government in Maharashtra banned large gathering for two days following rise in Omicron infections in the state. With 31 cases reported so far, the state has the highest tally countrywide for the new SARS-Cov-2 variant of concern. Three new cases were recorded on Friday.
The new restriction bans rallies and protest gatherings. The ban over weekend is meant for public safety, said the city police commissioner.
The new guideline :
● Rallies and protest marches involving people and vehicles are banned over next two days.
● Section 44 of Code of Criminal Procedure(CrPC) has been imposed within Mumbai Commissionerate limits.
●Violations will be punished under section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions.
