New Delhi : Centre asked states to up preparedness to be able to deal with any crisis situation in terms of oxygen availability. The forewarning came from Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan at the meeting of states convened by the Centre to evaluate medical oxygen availability amid rising Covid surges. States have a primary responsibility to ensure oxygen availability at all health centres up to the base level, said Bhushan. States may use emergency funds granted for Covid mitigation to the full extent, the Secretary added.
Huge Surges In Cities
Covid surges are huge in cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Mumbai reported 20,971 cases Friday, an increase of 4 percent than day earlier. Karnataka recorded 8449 fresh cases, of which 6812 came from Bengaluru. In Delhi, weekend curfew commenced from Friday night 10 pm lasting up to 5 am Monday morning. Delhi on Friday reported 17,335 new cases.
