Thiruvananthapuram : Steps are initiated to ensure the government’s free Onam kit is made available to all who missed it on the previously scheduled days between 23 August - 7th September.
Tokens were issued to those who could not take delivery owing to non-availability of kits at the time of their visit to ration shops. No cause for worry. All such token recipients can avail the kits soon.
Since all categories of card holders were eligible for free Onam kit, certain areas faced shortages during scheduled days, the last being 7 September. The Civil Supplies Dept took note of the gap. The Ration Inspectors will assess the non-delivered numbers after which, kits to the token holders shall be made available.
87.25 lakh kits were delivered to outlets in two phases of which, 85,69,583 were collected by beneficiaries. There are 92,88,126 ration card holders across the state.
