Kochi : Mathrubhumi is up again with fake news surrounding Ukraine. This time it is a criticism homeward falsely accusing Kerala as failing to provide adequate travel facility for student arrivals from Ukraine.
According to Mathrubhumi around 30 Malayali students were stuffed into two cars from Delhi airport to Kerala House and , were handed food only upon reaching there. The daily took the story further claiming U.P arranged luxury bus for its chunk of Ukranian returnees.
The angst appears emotional. Problem is, it is fake, all and sundry.
Fact : There were 30 Malayali student arrivals at Delhi, of whom 16 did not emerge from the airport as they changed to Ernakulam flight from there. Of the remaining 14 who showed up, one was a Delhi resident. For the 13 left thereafter, there waited 4 Ciaz cars, 2 Vertigo cars and two Innova cars that ferried them to Kerala House for resting. Food and refreshments were taken care of early on. The group were later flown to Kerala and transported to their homes, all free of cost.
After state govt arrangments toward convenient transit for Malayali students became known, Mathrubhumi drew wide flak especially on social media.
