Bengaluru : Opinion polls forecast huge election debacle for BJP in the only Southern state under its rule, namely Karnataka. The voters’ disenchantment with BJP came in the poll survey run by NDTV, CVoter etc. Majority point to the unemployment and poverty as rampant in state, questioning BJP governance in the past five years.
Voters were largely of the view that corruption and unemployment have spiraled in the past five years. 28 percent of those surveyed viewed unemployment as a major problem, while 25 percent saw corruption as the important issue and the rest of 67 percent saw uncontrolled inflation as crucial criss to everyday life.
Participants in the survey held corruption as a major feature of the BJP government. 51 percent said corruption has increased in the past five years of BJP rule. Even BJP supporters admitted there has been a rapid spike in corruption.
Meanwhile, Congress has released its election manifesto for Karnataka. An important promise is to raise reservation from the current 50 percent to 70. The manifesto also promises free-of-cost electricity up to 200 units.
