THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : CPI(M) workers, their families and relatives must turn proactive in the fundraising drive summoned by the party, for victims of Delhi violence, said CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
On 7 and 8 March this week, bucket collections shall be organized at Branch level. Party leaders will also take part in the drive, visiting individuals, homes and shops for the purpose. CPI(M)’s Central Committee called for the fundraising drive in order to help hundreds of people who have lost everything they possessed to arson and loot that rocked the national capital recently. Monies collected shall be also used to pay compensation to families of the dead.
The recent riots and bloodshed in Delhi caused untold damages to scores of people. Majority of those who suffered substantial loss belong to lower rungs of the society and belong to all religious segments. Many of these victims continue to remain in abysmal conditions, staring into uncertain future.
The secular-minded people of Kerala have always volunteered in times of disaster. Everybody, with love for mankind, must come forward this time around, to help the Delhi riot victims and contribute whatever possible during the collection rounds to be held on 7th and 8th of March, said Kodiyeri in a statement.
