Kottayam : The Kottayam Additional Sessions Court on Friday sentenced to death the culprit of 2013 double murder in Pazhaeidam. Convicted with capital punishment is Arun Shashi(39), who murdered his father’s sister and her husband in Manimala in Pazhidam The court had found Arun guilty yesterday. He is charged with aggravated murder, house break-in and burglary
The Murder : In August of 2013, Arun Shashi bludgeoned Thimpanal Thangamma (68) and her husband Bhaskarannayare (71) using a hammer and then stabbed them with a knife. The couple were living alone. After the murder, Arun made off with gold jewelry
Arun secured bail but went absconding for three years, until Chennai police arrested him in connection with thefts there in 2016. Police from Kerala were tipped off and Arun Shashi remained in jail since.
