Thiruvananthapuram : The public is aware of all persons who visited Monson Mavunkal for treatment, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Assembly on Tuesday. Police personnel apparently did not lodge there for wellness therapy, said CM responding to an adjournment motion on the topic.
The public has known much about Monson Mavunkal’s ways. The police are looking up identities and purposes of all who might have visited Monson. The former DGP notified Intelligence soon after his tour of the place, said CM.
The government received complaint against Monson on the 6th of September, 2021 and a case was thereafter registered on 23rd. Police also cut off Monson’s potential escape by blocking his anticipatory bail plea in court and made their arrest based on solid evidence of foul play. Monson is currently in police custody, said CM.
It is only natural for people to visit a place that houses relics. Therefore, it would take police investigation to determine motives behind people’s visits.
Soon as he visited the place, the former DGP notified Intelligence on Monson and his outfit. The state intelligence in turn reverted with their report on Monson’s activities.
Following this, on 5th of February in 2020, the DGP wrote to Enforcement Directorate seeking to learn about Monson’s money trail. These developments indicate that state police was digging deeper into Monson’s activities instead of lodging up for his “treatment”.
The allegation that government attempted to fool people by crafting fake chembola(palm leaf manuscript) on Sabarimala rituals, is absolutely unfounded. Since the matter falls under the purview of ongoing investigations, I do not wish to divulge any further, said CM.
It is normal for police to pay attention to any place where a complaint might originate regarding threat to life or property.
A letter has been sent to the Archaeological Survey or India and the Archaeological Department for details on DRD documents possessed by Monson on items he claimed were antiques.
A Special Investigation Team has been appointed headed by Crime Branch IG Sparjan Kumar to porbe the case. There are four cases of fraud against Monson including cheating a Pandalam native Rajendran Pillai of Rs 6 crore and 27 lakhs by promising loan of Rs 25 crores, CM told the House. The adjournment motion was moved by PT Thomas.
