People Fainting Inside Overcrowded Coaches; More Gen Compartments Needed: Dr. John Brittas

New Delhi: MP John Brittas wrote to the Union Railway Minister demanding increase of general compartments in trains. The MP also sought a review of current situation of freezing trains in their tracks at rush hour,  to make way for  Vande Bharat.

Commuters undergo immense stress owing to limited general compartments in trains operating in north Kerala. Passengers wrestle their way into crammed coaches stepping on other’s toes.  Scores make their journey hanging precariously at entrance and on the door steps.  Commuters fainting on and off is a regular feature  now. Railway authorities turn a blind eye  to all this, said John Brittas in his letter and demanded that the Union Minister order to add more  General compartment coaches.

The MP also pointed out the hassle caused by trains being held in their tracks for long to let Vande Bharat pass. Daily commuters, office goers and those headed to educational institutions are thrown to distress owing to this disruptive delay. Instead of changing the Vande Bharat timings, the Railways is altering other train schedules, the MP’s  letter read and further urged to resolve the problem by effecting the reverse
