People of State Attest Development, Its Backing For A Governance Undeterred By Floods Ockhi, Nipah, Covid

Thiruvananthapuram:  The Opposition had described local body elections as semi-finals to Assembly polls scheduled a few months from now. UDF and BJP leaders had also predicted that the current election outcome would be "a fate written for bad governance.”  Their leaders  claimed  there as widespread discontent with incumbent government among public – a propaganda certain sections of the media also picked up without qualms. However, the poll outcome now has  came out with the true story. Based on how this government stood for the people in every hour of need, their votes wrote a verdict in favour of the difference this governance made to their lives.

By contrast, the just-concluded polls have wrecked UDF completely with  no steam now left to face up the  finals. LDF earned votes pointing to the developments it made around the state by its government that refused to be daunted by floods, Nipah or Ockhi.

In Covid times, the government initiated benevolent measures unseen anywhere else in the country. Testing and treatment were made free for all people in the state. Preparations are now underway to distribute free vaccines once they pass regulatory approval. Subsidies were introduced for electricity bills and road tax seeking to provide relief in lockdown times. Community kitchens were opened to take care of guest workers.

Measures to ensure timely delivery of social security pensions and free ration kits has  brought much-sought relief  in times of crisis. And, the elections now have served a befitting reply to the Opposition for their  attempts to pull down KIIFB’s revolutionary development projects for the people.

Although upgrading state’s health system and upscaling  public  schools to hi-tech institutions and reclaiming organic farming around the state  were differences evident to people, the BJP and UDF leaders were blind to these advancements. They rather found joy looking to kick up controversies amid crises.

The LDF election manifesto  had assured “all things to set right” and it  has done good on nearly all its publicized promises and more – a reason why public who up to then believed nothing would happen, now holds further hopes in its governance for advancement.

People from all walks of life, especially the youth,  have great hopes. They realize that the  state as a whole, has been  changing and so have been  their lives. And, they also realize that such transformation can be effected only by LDF. That’s message rendered by the electoral outcome.
