Chalakudy : With heavy rains raising water levels close to breaching safety at Peringalkuthu dam in Chalakudy, the District Collector instructed to raise shutters and release excess flow. Water level has touched 423 meters and a Red Alert has been issued to residents for vigil.
The decision follows necessity to contain water level to a maximum of 424 meters. Settlements living along the embankments are advised caution as the ensuing water rush is set to swell Chalakudy river.
