Thiruvananthapuram : Cantonment police team reached Malappuram to record statement of local school teacher, Haridasan, on his claim that he allegedly paid bribe to Health Minister’s staff Akhil Mathew. Haridasan’s testimony was collected over complaint that Akhil Mathew filed with the DGP office. .
Haridasan had earlier lodged his own complaint stating he paid bribe of Rs 1 lakh in cash to Akhil on promise of a temporary job as medical officer in Malappuram district for his daughter-in-law in state's Ayush Mission.
Haridasan had lodged his complaint by post. Releasing videos to substantiate he was never present in the district at the time of allleged bribe, Akhil lodged a counter-complaint that accuses impersonation as personal staff by some conman who likely duped the victim. ACP Stuart Keelar said, the police team traveled to Malappuram over consideration for Haridasan’s advanced age and health condition.
