Thiruvananthapuram : PG doctors have ended their statewide strike of past 16 days. The decision came about during talks the fraternity had with Chief Minister’s Office(CMO) on Thursday. All doctors will report for duty from Friday morning, the Kerala Medical Postgraduate Association(KMPGA) office bearers said.
It was decided that, apart form junior resident doctors, the medicos completing their course this year shall remain on duty till the next batch arrives. The government will pressure Centre to speed up 1st year admissions. Steps toward higher stipend shall be initiated shortly, said office bearers, citing these as terms to ending the strike fully.
Earlier on Wednesday, the strike was withdrawn in part, following talks with Health Minister Veena George.
