Thrissur The Enforcement Directorate(ED) threatened, assaulted and caused mentally tortured for refusing to name of senior CPI(M) leaders so as to falsely incriminate them in the case, said Vadakanchery Councilor,PR Aravindakshan. The ED excesses took place when its officials summoned Aravindakashan in connection with Karuvanoor Co-operative Bank irregularities.
Sleuths repeatedly threatened Aravindakshan he would never again see light of the day. They coerced him to sign document that said CPI(M) State Secretariat member PK Biju, StateCommittee members AC Moideen and MLA MK Kanan were involved in the (fake) case. ED sleuths beat badly compelling to state that AC Moideen had links with Popular Front of India(PFI), the Councilor said.
“You see this room? It’s not ordinary police lockup, rather this is where Swapna and Siva Sankar were subject to interrogation. We will make arrest when your daughter’s engagement ceremony is in progress. You should testify that AC Moideen handed you you crores of rupees packed in gunny bags. Else, your daughter and her fiancé will be summoned to appear.”, said Aravindakshan. “ When I said I will not testify even if it means getting killed, they pointed to a black box in the room and said it was filled with evidences,” said Aravindakshan.
“I then said, arrest me if there be evidence. Upon saying so, a Hindi-speaking official emerged from the inner room, bend me over and started to punch me on the neck. He also repeated hit on my arms using a bamboo baton. Exhausted, I signed documents with the list of names on it,” said Aravindakshan.
Aravindakshan sought medical help at Thrissur Medical College the next and lodged complaint against ED with Ernakulam Central police.
