Kozhikode: Revelations made by Muslim Youth League’s national leader point to massive fraud in the name of charity by party's youth leaders . The member of Youth League’s central Working Committee, Yusuf Padanilam, said enormous sums have been stashed away by leaders from the funds raised for girl victims of Kathua and Unnao. State president PK Firoz and other leaders of siphoning off money to the tune of Rs 1 crore, instead of handing over the lumpsum to the victims or their families, said Yusuf. Not a single rupee was given to the victims despite the huge amount collected in 2018, added Yusuf addressing reporters at a press conference in Kozhikode.
Youth League conducted the fund collection drive claiming the money was meant to aid the victims of Unnao and Kathua financially and in legal matters. In 2019, PK Firoz shelved away Rs 15 lakh from the collection saying there were debts against costs incurred on Yuva Jana Yathra. There were efforts to humiliate Hyderali Thanga’s son Muinali Thangal, for questioning irregularities with regard to the fund in question, said Yusuf Padanilam. Not action was forthcoming on the matter, despite repeatedly informing regional and national leaders, he added.
League is protective of its leaders accused of corruption. A complaint will be lodged with Vigilance; Youth League should become willing to release the concerned bank statement, Yusuf said at the conference.
