Kochi: The High court on Tuesday asked central govt if it planned to clamp total beef-ban on Lakshadweep. The centre responded saying the current draft was rough and that the President would finalise rules only after considering differing views and recommendations.
There is nothing inappropriate about levying additional charge for land development, the court observed. And the same goes to laws regarding trading and slaughter of animals, the court said. What needs to be observed is that government’s powers don’t breach provisions laid in the constitution, the court added.
