Kochi : Police on Monday raided offices of Shajan Scaria, the Marunadan Malayali editor facting action in fake news cases. The raids were headed by Kochi Central ACP and is currently progressing at Moritti Chott office in Ernakulam and also at homes of three employees.
The current raids revolve around case on fake and derogatory news on MLA PV Srinijan, that Shajan aired on Marunadan Malayali. The case draws on IPC and Schedule Caste(Prevention of) Atrocities Act.
Shajan, went into hiding soon after being booked by police. He approached the High Court fr Anticipatory Bail, but was turned down. The Kochi City Police has meanwhile issued Lookout circular that declares him as a fugitive. Transit points including airports have been alerted to watch out for the evasive fake news editor.
