Thiruvananthapuram : Government efforts during the pandemic has been commendable; K-Rail project is eco-friendly and must go through, said Governor Arif Muhammad Khan. The Governor’s reference came during policy announcement on the first day of Budget session of the the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly Friday morning.
The Centre’s policy is largely responsible for crisis the state is faced with. The Centre is yet to pay Rs 6500 crores in GST arrears due to the state. K-Rail project will resolve the unemployment crisis in the state. All arrangements must be made to set K-Rail operational, said the Governor who also criticised Centre’s intervention in the co-operative sector.
The Governor who arrived at Assembly 8.50 morning was received at the House entrance by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Speaker MB Rajesh.
The Opposition boycotted Policy Announcement. At the House, the Oppn members raised “Governor Go Back” slogans following which, the Governor responded saying this was not the time for protest. The members then walked out the Assembly hall and carried out sloganeering outside.
Post the policy announcement, the the Assembly will disperse after paying condolence over demise of MLA P.T. Thomas. The House will discuss Motion of Thanks three days starting Monday, followed by a recess from 25th Feb to 10 March.
The Assembly session is scheduled to last 14 days. Two days are reserved for government affairs, Vote On Account shall be held on 22 March. 9 ordinances including Lokayukta would be tabled for clearance. The Assembly will conclude on 23rd of March.
