Thiruvananthapuram : The government declared 31st May as public holiday for Thrikkakara in view of polling on the day. All govt, semi - govt, co-operative and educational institutions shall remain closed.
Commercial units too are obligated to stay closed under Negotiable Instruments Act. Private offices, business outlets and other units coming under the Shop and Commercial Establishments Act are mandated under its provisions to render paid leave to their staff. The govt has directed Labour Commission to ensure those allowed voting leave get paid for the day. Residents outside Thrikkakara with vote inside the constituency too shall be eligible for such leave.
