New Delhi : In an intriguing frankness, RSS admitted to poverty, unemployment and inequality being rampant and on the rise nationwide. Poverty in the country has assumed demonic proportions, said RSS General secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, adding that, containing that demon is a major challenge . More than 20 crore of the population lives below the poverty line with an income that figures less than Rs 375 per Swadeshi Jagaran - a Sangh Parivar associate organisation - on its website quotes Labour Force survey saying, 4 crore in the country have no jobs, meaning 7.6 percent of the population are unemployed, said Hosabale.
One percent of the country’s population have in their control one-fifth (20 percent) of the country’s wealth. Is this a good thing ? People in most parts of the country have no access to pure water or nutritious food, said Hosabale. Incidentally, RSS has said it before that current economic policies are responsible for this kind of poverty and employment.
