Thalassery : The Thalassery Archdiocese Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplani’s controversial statement came after a meeting he held with BJP leaders. The BJP team led by district president N Haridas had arrived at Bishop's House and met with the Archbishop on Tuesday. Three days later, Archbishop Alaankode proclaimed BJP would be helped if rubber prices were upped. The footage of the meeting at Bishop’s House is now out.
When the Bishop arrived for press conference to explain the controversial statement, the reporters did inquire if there took place talks with BJP leaders. The Bishop was evasive in his response and said, the Bishop’s House is laid open to all and anyone wishing to see can come along.
Explaining the controversial proclamation, the Bishop said it was not said to mean that BJP would be helped, rather that, anyone who helped farmers shall be supported in turn. The Bishop also added that, as BJP currently rules the country, there’s no need to ostracise it. Neither the bishop nor BJP leaders have responded to anything on the rendezvous.
