Prohibitory Orders Announced For T'Puram, Kozhikode, Ernakulam; Effective from Saturday

Thiruvananthapuram : The government has announced prohibitory orders for  districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Ernakulam. The orders will hold good for one month beginning this Saturday evening. The curb will not apply to public transport.

People shall not form groups either inside or outside containment zones. Coming together of more than 5 people at a time is strictly prohibited. Shops, offices and government offices shall remain open. No exams shall be held in these districts however.

Marriage and funeral functions may held in conformity with covid protocols. No more than 20 and 50 people shall be allowed to participate in funerals and weddings respectively. Social, religious and political gatherings shall not exceed 20-person limit at any time.

Police and local self bodies should ensure there occurs no cramming at public places.  More than 5 people seen together at hotels, restaurants or shops shall amount to violation of Prohibitory orders.

The concerned District Collectors shall declare Sec 144 in each of the three  districts. Section 144 is being invoked owing to huge surges in new cases and more districts are likely to go under prohibition in coming days. Today, more than four districts recorded above 1000 new cases in the day.
