A  CPI(M) leader in  Vyttila had close brush with death after he submitted  a complaint to the Chief Minister,  on a black money deal involving PT Thomas. The brazen attack on Saturday targeted Adv AN Santhosh  -  a member of the Vyttila Area Committee and president at Vennala Co-op Bank.

The attack took place as AN Santhosh was out on his morning walk in the Arkakadau area at Padivattom. Unknown assailants sped their bike toward him and attempted to stab him; Santosh fled and climbed  into a passing vehicle in escape, the complaint lodged with Palarivattom police said.

The bike-borne  3-member gang had been  watching over him  soon as he began his morning stroll, Santosh said. And, as he reached a deserted spot, one of the men got down and ran toward him with a knife pointed in his direction. As the murder plot became evident, Santhosh ran in backward direction and got into a garbage truck that came by and escaped. CCTV  images showing the assailants movement in the stretch is being collected, said Santhosh.
