Kochi: Records pertaining to Anjumana land sale are now out showing how MLA P.T. Thomas had in effect colluded with the wealthy real estate man, to deceive a very poor family of the fair price legally due to them
Back in 1998, the real estate businessman, VS Ramkrishnan gave a written assurance to provide Charoth Dineshan a house on 4 cents, in exchange for the latter’s family land and house. However, TP Thomas donned a mediator’s role cutting out this crucial obligation.
Charoth Dineshan and VS Ramkrishnan had entered the deal on 3rd of July, 1998. The agreement was drawn on a 50 rupees stamp paper and was effected after Dinesh along with his family agreed to move out from their 4 cents bearing survey no. 147/5 B registered at Edapally South village office. The agreement also states that Ramkrishnan had purchased 2 acres of Dinesh’s family property in Kannanthottam.
The agreement basically comprises 3 provisions : The first clause states that from the 2 acres of Dinesh’s family property purchased by VS Ramakrishnan, the latter agrees to register 4 cents on the roadside (survey no. 147 3A) onto Dinesh’s name. The second clause states that a house identical to the one Dinesh is living in, shall be built by Ramakrishnan, on the 4 cents of land offered over and above the deal money. Another clause categorically states that, Dinesh will become obliged to vacate his original 4-cent dwelling only when the house newly constructed by Ramakrishnan is handed over to him. The agreement was signed in front of two witnesses. Not withstanding the iron-clad agreement, Ramkrishnan brought in PT Thomas to escape his responsibilities and profit more in the deal, a goal the MLA effectively fulfilled.
Earlier in the deal, Ramkrishnan was prepared to pay Rs 1.35 crore for the land whose fair worth stands at Rs 2 crore. He later slashed it to Rs 1.3 crore and the poor family, owing to their circumstances, agreed to this price too. When PT Thomas swung into the show, he cut it further bringing the cost down to a mere Rs 80 lakh.
