Thiruvananthapuram : Former Chief Minister and Congress veteran Oomen Chandy passed away early this morning at a hospital in Bengaluru following cancer. The body is being flown to Thiruvananthapuram and will reach capital this noon by special chartered flight. After consulting with the family members, the Congress leaders informed that the body would be laid up for public homage at Thiruvananthapuram and then transported to Kottayam tomorrow for last respects there followed by funeral at Puthupally.
The body will be laid for public homage in the capital this evening at St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Pallayam. The mortal remains will then be fetched to Indira Bhavan for last respects following which, it would be ferried to ancestral home in Puthupally late night.
