Thiruvananthapuram : The Vigilance secures incriminating evidence of overseas fundraising in violation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act the Opposition Leader VD Satheesan carried out in  the name of Punarjani scheme.   Noose tightened VD Satheesan after the complainant and journalist provided Vigilance with crucial evidence in the case.

The complainant and office bearer of Kathikudam Action Council Jaison Panikulangara and journalist Nayeeb  went over to Vigilance Special Unit(2) on Monday and gave testimonies against Satheesan.   To the investigating officer SP Ajay Kumar, Jaison handed over evidence of FCRA violation involving Satheesan.

The complainant testified that he stood firmly with his allegations of Satheesan with regard to his various foreign trips and the quantum fund raised  in the name of Punarjini scheme and manner in which those moneys were spent.

The evidences include footage where Satheesan says that  funds ensued from lunch meetings and further that those luncheons were organised by a woman from Thiruvananthapuram.

Satheesan says he undertook the foreign trips with permission of the government, but received no sanction to accept funds from there. Jaison has demanded that these aspects be checked. Satheesan had said there would be monthly audit of the funds collected from abroad. However, Satheesan behaves irresponsibly with regard  to handling of those moneys. Satheesan used the funds to help real estate groups. MLA funds too were spent on the same purpose, Jaison said.

Meanwhile, the Vigilance is preparing to also record a formal statement from former Paravur MLS P. Raju.
