Kochi : The Enforcement Directorate(ED) summoned main accused in the Punarjani scam, VD Satheesan, to once again give his testimony in the case. The ED also sent notice to complainant Kathikudam Action Council President Jaison Pannikulangara too, asking him for formal statement at its Kochi office on Wednesday 10:30 am.
The ED decided to take Satheesan’s testimony one more time in the wake of confirming that funds amassed abroad for his Punarjani scheme violated Foreign Contribution Control Act (FCRA). In the earlier session, VD Satheesan admitted to visiting Birmingham and collecting funds, and also surrendered digital evidences to the effect, including footage of his requesting donations in public. Also handed over to the investigators were documents including RTI correspondence that indicate Satheesan lacked permission to raise funds abroad, the letter from CBI recommending Vigilance probe into the scam, complaints received by Vigilance etc.
