Kozhikode: Linking Quran to gold smuggling is unjustifiable, said Kerala Jamiat-ul-Ulema on Saturday. Religious establishments and symbols of faith should not be insulted; Quran is a holy text. Quran should not be dragged to the streets using it as cover for the gold smuggling campaign, said Samastha President Muhammad Jiphri Muthhakoya Thangal and General Secretary Prof. K Alikutty Musliyar.
There is a particular group that trying to alienate people of Islamic faith. Given the circumstance, one should prevent the issue from hitting the streets or destroying existential communal harmony. Anyone engaged in activities outside the law should be punished accordingly, said leaders at Samastha.
The Samastha leaders’ views come in response to ongoing trend where UDF trails after BJP’s misleading propaganda on Quran being cover to the gold smuggling. In the issue, Samastha’s perspective is markedly different from that of League and its response indicates disappointment over League lending voice to the BJP chorus.
