Kochi : In a daring joint operation, the cops in Kochi today nabbed murder accused, Appunni, from a house there, barely 9 days after he escaped custody on Nov 1.
When police approached his woman friend’s house early Saturday morning, Appunni unleashed dogs and later threatened to shoot himself with an airgun he possessed. The city shadow team and Mavelikara police, in rather risky moves finally got hold of him
Appunni is second accused in the murder of radio jockey Rasikan Rajesh.
Rajesh, 36, was hacked to death in March 2018, by a quotation gang comprising Kayamkulam native, Appunni . The gang was hired by Sathar, a gulf employee, to avenge his wife’s relationship with Rajesh, that he claims ruined his marital life.
Appuni, with accomplices, went into hiding soon after the murder and was nabbed after much manhunt. He made his escape on Nov 1. from Mavelikara police, while being taken for court appearance in a different case. Appuni is accused in 2 murder cases apart from several other criminal ones.
