Rains Intensify : Orange Alert in 4 Districts

Thiruvananthapuram : Rains get thick across the state. Specially severe are downpours in districts of Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kasaragod, all of which are put on Orange Alert. It’s Yellow Alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur. Rains that started Tuesday night continues unabated through the morning. Rains with lightning and thunder are likely to precipitate in isolation in the hillside regions.

Rains remain severe owing to cyclonic circulation over north east of Bay of Bengal. Kerala will witness widespread rains up to the 27th, the IMD informed. With seas set to stay turbulent, fisherfolks taking to sea are advised caution. Landslides and mudslides are likely in hillsides and low lying areas.
