Thiruvanananthapuram : New depression formed over Bay of Bengal has brought fresh wave of heavy downpours across the state. Thiruvananthapuram, where rains are severe across the district, has been put on Red Alert and is forecast to have heavy rains for next two days.
The current depression is expected to reach mid Bay of Bengal by 15th, Monday and transform into severe depression, said IMD. Orange Alert has been issued to districts of Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki while Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are on Yellow Alert.
Tomorrow, it is Orange Alert for districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki while Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod would be on Yellow Alert.
With heavy rains incessant in the district, Control Room has been set up in Thiruvananthapuram. There are traffic disruptions at several places in the current scenario.
