Thiruvananthapuram : New depressions have formed at Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal and will bring heavier downpours across Kerala next two days. IMD has also predicted high winds that will gust up to 50 km per hour.
The southeast depression took form close to Lakshadweep shores in the Arabian sea. Meanwhile the earlier whirlwind continues to remain in the Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal depression is traveling in the South-west direction and will likely make incursions into coasts along Odisha and Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Strong winds from Arabian sea that hit Kerala’s southern tip is heading io northern districts and will precipitate heavier rains in central Kerala and up north.
Orange alert has been issued for six districts – Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur are on yellow alert. Fishermen have been warned against going to the sea.
