Thiruvananthapuram : The IMD forecast isolated rains accompanied with thunder and lighting today and tomorrow in State after which rainfall is predicted to intensify from Thursday on.
A cyclonic circulation has been spotted over eastern Uttar Pradesh. Cyclonic circulation also looms over Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and central-West Bay of Bengal. There is probability of a low pressure forming over the Bay of Bengal owing to which the rains could intensify including for our state.
Severe rains have been warned for on Friday in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Districts of Ernakulam Idukki Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are forecast to experience heavy rainfall on Saturday.
28th and 30th of September could see heavy rainfall at isolated places. Yellow Alert has been issued to nine districts for Thursday - Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Heavy rains mean rainfall between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Authorities have called for vigil especially in hilly areas.
