Thiruvananthapuram : The Central Meteorological Dept forecast monsoons in Kerala to begin on the 4th of June. There might occur a change to the date, the department said. . Meanwhile, isolated rains accompanied by thunder and lightning, are predicted to happen up to 20 May .
Rains reach Kerala on 1st of June. However the South Westerlies this time is delayed by 4 days, hence the change to date. In the past five years, there has been just one instance when showers began in State on the 1st. The delay will not however affect the quantum or length of monsoon, the MeT dept said.
